I developed a love for photography when my daughter was born.  She was such a blessing and had a rocky introduction into the world.  Every day was a gift.  Needless to say, I documented everything with my camera.  A family member suggested I go beyond a point-and-shoot, and I'm so thankful I did.

I have thousands of beautiful, most treasured images of my children and family.  I've learned so much as a mom that has carried over into my work and one of the most critical is that children grow up so fast.  Strangers in the grocery store will say this.  And I smile and nod, thinking "Of course they do.  I know."  

But, I really have to remind myself to slow down, let the unimportant tasks fall away and appreciate the time just in this minute.  So, be fun. Be silly. Be brave. Be kind.  Be yourself. And, you can bet, I'll be snapping it all along the way.

Photography is such fun and can be so powerful.  It can freeze time and allow us to remember a lovely little moment in our busy lives years and years later.  Kids stay small and adults remain young!  We always think these thoughts.  If only they would stay this little and precious. Or, if only I could go back to when....  Shooting close and cozy family moments matters: whether snuggling close on a blanket or having an impromptu dance party in the sand. Life is a series of moments and how we choose to spend them.  Family portraits are a time stamp that helps us remember where we've been before, who we are--together--in the here-and-now, and where we're headed to next--even when we don't have all the answers, we have each other.  And that's all we need.  So, let's capture what matters.
